I ust this app to show bird identification on my iPhone. It performs this task perfectly !!! First I adjusted the canvas size to the ideal size for iPhone 960×640 pixels. Then I added the bird photo to identify and scaled it to best fit the canvas size. I then added a black layer and scaled it to fit the annotation. I added a white text layer that identified the birds name. I drug the photo layer below the annotation to look nice. Then I exported the photo as a jpeg file and synched the photo to my iPhone. Now when I am hiking and see a bird I have forgotten the name of, I can look it up quickly. Thanks for a great app….
I have been using this AP for about 18 months and it has been one of the best aps I have used. They just did an update and now I cant open the AP. All it does now is crash upon opening. I contacted the developer 2 days ago and there has not been any reply. I have a ton of work based on this file extension and I can not get to it open so currently all my work is at a standstill. Hopefully they will respond soon and perhaps we will figure out how to open up the new update. If so, I will re-post and then perhaps give it the 5 star rating it has deserved in the past.
This is a bargain loaded with features that are fun to use nice app
I was considering buying Photoshop for the new startup. But this app is more than enough for simple (and not so simple apps). Also it is very light weight so it starts up almost instantly. Excellent tool for the price.
Hours of projects wasted when saved. "Save as" feature no longer exists. Can export to new file types, but cannot save as an rhif, which is the only file format that matters for this program, since rhif format preserves all the layers.
This app is amazing! I keep discovering new things that it is capable of. Since Adobe creative suites is so expensive, I use LiveQuartz paired with two other applications to work around not havind Adobe. It works great! LiveQuartz is a life saver, and for the price you really cant beat it!
As a COMPLETE novice image manipulator this program makes things like outlines and gradient changes easy and intuitive.
This application is absolutely horrible. It has so many glitches and problems. I demand my money back!
LiveQuartz has served me well for my on-the-fly image editing needs related to web content— which I do myself as an amateur rather than hiring a professional graphic designer/editor. Also very grateful for timely responses and updates from the developer when I’ve encountered minor bugs in the past year or so since downloading originally.
I am not a designer but I needed something to make quick edits, etc and this app fits my needs.
For not much more money I have another photo editor (that I’m not a great fan of) that does considerably more than this. I’m just getting started but already I wish I had held off on getting it. So far just adjusting the size of a layer seems to be a big hassle if it’s possible at all and even if it is why deal with the complication. I mean something that basic ought to be pretty simple if this is Live Quartz’s (?) big selling point. Then it seems to only use the built in camera thus essentially meaning I have to have another program to add layers via camera - and again why? when that other one does use the camera I want. The magic eraser feature doesn’t work that well and the regular eraser doesn’t seem very precise with limited options (true of all the tools it seems - not many options for each). Then too IOS editing apps are getting pretty sophisticated, to the point that I would about prefer a couple of those to this - and my phone is easier to carry around (though admittedly more difficiult to see and use with my large fingers.) To be fair, I have only just gotten started so maybe I’m missing something, but I just don’t see doing much else when I have the other that is about as straightforward and does considerably more.
I used this years ago and it was my go to free app for editing pictures. I went back to Mac this year and hunted it down. I even upgraded to the paid app and when trying to edit pictures now it crashes and you can not change brush sizes easily. Very disappointed.
I never buy apps usually without testing Free first, but I did bc the reviews on here were good. Not the case. It crashes over and over. Not worth it. Annoying.
I love this software. For years I have enjoyed “photo-shopping” various images, for various purposes. (I just finished doing the graphics for a postcard for my sister’s dental office. It was a fun little project, for which I used this software, with pretty nice results.) I find it a very satifying art form to shape an image into your vision, while maintaining the illusion that the image is unaltered. However, as much as I enjoy this, software like the fullblown, professional version of Adobe Photoshop is far more advanced and complex than what I need. Finding software that provides the functionality of a good basic set of tools, presented in a user freindly way, has in my exsperience, been a rare thing. For me, LiveQuartz Photo Edit has truly been a great discovery! Thank you to those who made it available. And thatnk you, perhaps most of all, for making this excellent software available for such an outstanding value price!
This is a great little app for the money. I use it to augment and manipulate photos, images and drawings. It doesn’t have every tool you can imagine, but it is simple to use and cost effective. I am not a professional artist of any kind, nor do I work in the world of graphics or art. So please weigh my comments accordingly.
Just bought the full version in January 2016. I was looking for something similar to PhotoDeluxe and LiveQuartz was recommended. I needed a simple tool to edit some teaching overheads for powerpoint and it has exactly what I needed without complication. I use mainly the eraser and text tools, very simple. As I use it, I learn more ways it can be used. Thanks!
I’ve been using Livequartz for a long time even before it was here on the Mac App Store and it’s a nice bang for the buck product that is consistently updated by the hard working developer with not only bug fixes but with new features. I’m sure it won’t replace the big guys like Photoshop, Pixelmator or Affinity Photo/Designer but for the price and for newbies or amateur editors it launches quickly, has a simple interface and a long list of features well worth the low price and developer staying on top of keeping it fresh.
