LiveQuartz Photo Unlimited App Reviews

Can not even edit a 2mb photo without freezing up.

All I am attempting to do is use the duplication tool on a relatively small photo on my new macbook pro. No luck. The app takes my available memory from ~1.94gb of free memory down to 10mb and locks up the computer for a minute or so. All this when I make ONE CLICK using the duplication tool. Major Beta and not worth 2 bucks at this point.

For the price and description of this app I have to give it 5 stars

Thank you for writting a simple inexpensive editing tool. The program was a bit difficult and clumsy for me, but I learned alot from the tutorials. Id like to see more tutorials. By the way, this program is great for making stenciles from photos.

A MUST HAVE

this app is a wonderful tool in creating photos to a next level . yes you can save the photo created to your computer then open it on another to enhance whatever . its easy to tranform anything to your imagination .fun ,and yes you can set it as your desktop just save into your computer then open it and presto . when you learn this app theres alot you can create. ((((LOVE))))

Design flaw

The "Take a Picture…" function in the File menu launches a window that is too large to be viewed on the 13" MBA.. There is no way to see the Submit or Cancel buttons (Im only assuming thats what theyre called, I cant see them.)

Application not responding

Very amazing program. Does exactly what it says it does, when its not frozen. Ive been using the program for some time and recently, it just cant handle the editing I do, and all Im doing is drawing lines. It took five mintues to save a single photo. Half of the time, if I get the chance to right click on the app icon on my dock it almost always says "Application not responding". Ive lost many edits to random freezes and force quits. Ive even tried redownloading it and it runs a little faster, but it still freezes. I would definitly buy the program and then just wait it out until an update comes along, because the program truly is worth the cheap price when it gets working.

Exactly what I was looking for.

The price is a joke, the software is excellent. This is exactly what I was looking for, and then some. I was looking for a software that allows you to simply perform simple tasks. Remove something from an image, add something to an image, etc. But this software even enables you to do sophisticated things just as easily. Kudos to the programmer: Fine job!

Text tool is very tricky

Paintbrush is a better product.

Used it for years…LOVE IT!

I have used this app for years and it is great. It is worth every penny. This app could cost a lot more easy. I highly recommend it!

This is one of my favorite apps

Quick and simple, but still has a functional filter set. I use it all the time.

Surprised

At first, I was confused about how to use the application. Lots of other people seemed to like it and that it was farily advanced yet easy to use. So I got a little frustrated, so I left. However, I still needed to do some photo editing, so I tried it again and like magic, it worked! After I tinkered around and tried out different things, I got used to it. It works great for what I need which was like cut, crop, and putting in texts. I like it and its only $2.

Quick photo editing

I use it to quickly edit picture files (remove background, etc -- look at the features in the description). I recommend the program because it is fast, light and has never crashed on me for the few years that I have used it, starting with the free version before the app store was created. Much easier to use for the small tasks than any one of the heavier programs.

Frustrating

All I wanted to do was add a "black" background to the image of a Martin Guitar....not an easy task with the instructions provided.

Totally Inappropriate

anyone looking for a replacement for Appleworks Graphics will be extremely disappointed. This, and several others like it, cannot open the .cwk graphic documents makint this, and them, totally unusable for any practical purpose.

LiveQuartz

Exactly what I was looking for! Easy to use when cropping, combining, or adding text!

Basic

It is really basic, needs simple functionality as "rotate", if you want to edit a photo and remove pieces it is complicated… not liked at all

What I was looking for

I enjoy Mac style Apps because they make artistic sense to me. I like to have as little math, tangent calculations, and non creative tasks involved when I am creating artwork and graphic design projects. With LiveQuartz, pencils act like pencils, and brushes brush. Actions are smooth and simple as putting a pen to paper. The layers behave magically and the various composites and photo effects are fluid and intuitive. Each time I use this program, I find new tools and combinations that help add to the fun of creating. Great program.

Powerful, but quirky

LiveQuartz is the kind of app that would never be created by a corporation -- it has all of the hallmarks of the one-man app. It is succinct and powerful, but also quirky and often counter-intuitive. Once you "get" the premise of the filter interface, it is possible to do things with this app that are otherwise only possible in far more complex and/or expensive apps. If you are willing to invest the time to learn how to use it, it is a very powerful tool. "Quartz", by the way, is the name of the core imaging layer in OS-X -- and what "LiveQuartz" does is "put knobs on" the filter functionality of that imaging layer. If you dont know this technoid jargon, the app name makes no sense at all -- one of those "one-man-app" flags. "LiveImageEffects" would likely be a more descriptive name, for most users. 5 starts for cost/power ratio, minus one star for the opaque reverse-Polish user interface design.

Very useful; a few quirks

If youre looking for a version of Microsoft Paint (Turbo Charged x25), look no further. This application is very simple to use and quite powerful. However, there are a few interface quirks, like wonky text input and the fact that your cant really justify the text and have the font size adaptably change. Besides that, some great built in filters, great layer management, and a host of options to save your picture, its truly a great app.

Good but absolutely not great

Livequartz is a good app, but no where near as all-encompassing as Photoshop (or even Pixelmator). I really dont like having to badmouth products, and I am by no means a pro, but I am very familiar with Photoshop, and theres really no comparisson at all. For some straightforward things, Livequartz is good, and i believe if the development team just thought everything through a bit better, I wouldnt have to revert to PS EVERY TIME. They have seemingly neglected some of the most crucial and simple things, like being able to change the color of a shape after you drew it, which you cant do. There are always troubles with saving too, which is totally ridiculous. Cant beat 5 bucks, but you really do get what you pay for. Go for Pixelmator, its only 15 bucks and is definitely more comparable to PS. I, for example, bought LiveQuartz first, and after maybe an hour bought Pixelmator. I never used Livequartz again. Youve been warned.

Does what I need it to do

It definitely has its limitations, but I will typically create an image in Pages page layout mode first. Pages has its own limitations in that area as well, but I just use Live Quartz to make up for it. I typically use Live Quarts for easy, proportional size adjustment. Pages and Preview simply dont have the right tools for that. The image editing software in Live Quartz works fine for me, too, for my needs. While Ive only ever heard people gripe about Gimp, Im always pleased whenever I use Live Quartz.
